C: Spotting Santa in the sky on his sleigh.
D: Waking up to see the Christmas tree, having bacon, croissant and eggs for Christmas breakfast and then sitting around all morning watching my family open gifts.
E: Performing Christmas songs with my cousins for the adults in the family.
K: Opening stockings in the morning. Still is my favourite part of Christmas.
L: Leaving out milk and cookies for Santa.

2. Which holiday tradition are you most looking forward to?

C: Family turkey dinner.
D: Christmas morning with the boys – seeing their eyes when they wake up and come down to see the tree 🙂 And stocking stuffers – love discovering that!!
E: Family baking day with my mom, aunt and cousins.
K: Opening up Christmas PJs on Christmas Eve.
L: There’s a few! Christmas Eve dinner at my in-laws. Ornament exchange with my best friends – we’ve been doing it for years now. Waking up at my parents’ and opening gifts with them and having mimosas.

3. Best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?

C: Every handmade Christmas DIY ornament or gift made by my kids.
D: When Chris and I brought our puppy Griffin home.
E: A set of 120 Prismacolor coloured pencils.
K: A trip to go to Disney with my whole family. It is something I know we’ll talk about forever!
L: The procedure to correct my earlobes, after I’d stretched the piercings as a teenager. A gift facilitated by my parents in 2011 or 2012. Hooray for wearing regular earrings!

4. Best Christmas gift you’ve ever given?

C: Our beautiful dog, Maddie.
D: My brother, sister and I teamed up to create a ‘Night Under the Stars’ for my parents. We asked mom and dad to dress up on Boxing Day Eve and come downstairs as we cooked a candle lit dinner for them. She wore a dress and he wore a suit. During the meal we served them 3 separate envelopes – what did the love the most about each other, what would they change about their lives and what were their hopes of each other for the future. They loved every minute of it and it became the most special Christmas dinners of all because unknown to us, it was the last Christmas before my dad passed away. My mom still carries all the letters with her.
E: Handmade wooden village for my mom.
K: I gave my parents a surround sound system one year. I was excited about that because they REALLY needed it. They had a large living room with double ceilings. You couldn’t hear anything. It was for everyone 🙂
L: I surprised my parents with a trip to Chicago. I got one of those cards you can record music on, and when they opened it, Frank Sinatra’s “Chicago” started playing.

5. What are the top 3 items on your Christmas list this year?

C: Chapters reading socks, a gift card to the salon, and my new DIY gifts from the kids.
D: A closet organizer (redoing the whole thing!!), winter coat, downtime 🙂
E: An electric hand-mixer, sleeping bag, books.
K: Hairdryer (this is pretty urgent mine is dying and it takes forever to dry my hair), slippers, and an indoor greenhouse for my basil and rosemary plants. It’s too hard to keep them alive in the winter!
L: Earrings from Catbird, iPad case, and Stanley Kubrick DVD box set.

6. When do you put up the Christmas tree and/or decorations?

C: December 1st.
D: Last weekend in November usually (much to the dismay of my hubby!)
E: The first week of December.
K: Did it last Weekend (Dec 2-3).
L: Either too far in advance or too close to Christmas. There is no in between.

7. If you could be a character from any Christmas movie, story, song or television special, who would it be and why?

C: Will Ferrell as Buddy from the movie Elf because he has such a unique outlook on life and I love his Christmas spirit.
D: I’d be the little kid who sings ‘I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas’ – an endearing Christmas song WITH guaranteed royalties each year 😉
E: I would be Hermey and hang out with the misfit toys.
K: Kevin from Home Alone – that looked like way too much fun.
L: Maya Rudolph’s character in “A Very Murray Christmas.” She sang “Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)” and killed it. It’s my favourite Christmas song. I’m a terrible singer.

8. The Grinch, Santa Clause and Chevy Chase (as Clark Griswold): who would you date, marry, unfriend?

C: I would date Clark Griswold because there would never be a dull moment, I would marry Santa because he is always Jolly and I would unfriend the Grinch because he is a grouch.
D: Hmmm… Unfriend Clarke (he might ruin my house or blind me with his Xmas lights lol), Date Santa – he’d be so sweet – and marry The Grinch. What can I say, I love sarcasm and believe true love can change and bring out the best in people.
